Types of seaweed:
- kombu / dashima (다시마)
- nori / gim (김) / laver
- wakamae / miyeok (미역)
- cystoseira
- bladderwrack
- feather boa kelp
- turkish towel and turkish washcloth
- sea palm
- pacific dulse
- rockweed
- black larch
- iridea / rainbow leaf
- paddleweed (감태)
Foraging
- Seek negative tide days. Go one hour before / after low tide
- Look for rocky shore with cold water
- Allowed to harvest 10 lbs every day of the year without license
- Bring buddy, wear bright colors, bring change of clothes
- Don’t harvest in Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). None of the beaches in San Francisco fall under this category.

- Gallon-size ziploc bags
- Scissors
- Water shoes / boots / sandals. For intertidal seaweed, like 다시마, you will get wet.
- Layers!
- Ice chest with ice
