Unincorporated on California's central coast, just south of Morro Bay and about 20 minutes from San Luis Obispo. Includes the Baywood Park area to the north overlooking Morro Bay. Sometimes referred to as Baywood-Los Osos.
To Do
- Los Osos Oaks State Natural Reserve. Small, easily accessible, beautiful. Very representative of the local ecosystem.
- Morro Dunes Ecological Preserve. Off the beaten path, but also beautiful and representative of the local ecosystem (although not as many oak trees).
- Montaña de Oro State Park
- Birding at Sweet Springs Nature Preserve and the Audubon overlook on the Baywood Park side of town overlooking Morro Bay
- Elfin Forest Natural Area
To Eat
There's a cute little plaza just off the main roads with a cluster of restaurants and a rustic shared plaza. The biggest gem is Wayward Baking, which has excellent breads, pastries, and sandwiches. Other restaurants include:
In the main part of town (very strip mall-ish), there's:
- Celia's Garden Cafe. Solid brunch place with giant plates of food.
- Lotus Thai Cuisine. Takeout only. Decent, but not great. Good in a pinch.
