Los Osos Oaks State Natural Reserve

From Burden's Landing

Beautiful, accessible park in Los Osos with relatively flat, interconnected mile-long trails that take you through sand dunes with a grove of dwarf (6-8 foot high), 800-year old coast live oaks. There's also a Chumash trash sites here. It's close to town, but feels remote and beautiful.

There are five major plant communities represented here: [1]

  • Coastal sage scrub
  • Central coastal scrub
  • Dune oak scrub
  • Coast live oak forest
  • Riparian

Great for birding!
