Seaweed. Pronounced gim. Also known as nori and laver. Scientific name is Porphyra.
Cooking
- Toast / bake / fry lightly. Once cooked, shatters easily for flakes or powder.
- Use in smoothies
- Laverbread
- 김장아찌
Cleaning
- Lots of stuff hides in its folds (e.g. shrimp, isopods, sand), so requires 3-4 rinses to clean
- Use salad spinner to reduce water
- Sun dries within two hours
