Home of many giant sequoias. Prime example of mixed conifder forest. Other trees: ponderosa pines, sugar pines, incense cedars, and white fir.

Fishing in Beaver Creek (South Grove) and Stanislaus River.

Lots of damaged (or worse) sequoias. Sad.

Lava Bluffs Trail

Scenic north fork of Stanislaus River.

Lots of wildflowers, including leopard lily, Hartweg's iris, crimson columbine, monkey-flowers, harvest brodiaea, wild hyacinth, and lupine.

Hotter trail. Less cover. Rattlesnakes, poison oak.

River Canyon Trail

Strenuous, four mile trail.
