Turkish washcloth

Mastocarpus papillatus.
Seaweed. Resembles turkish towel in its bumpiness, but is much smaller with multiple blades and is found in the mid- and high-intertidal zones.
Forms a black slime on rocks in one phase of its lifecycle.[1] It's extremely slippery! If you see black on rocks, don't step on it! This form is present year-round, whereas the blades grow and die back every year.[2]
