Ad hoc trip to Santa Barbara, December 27-29, 2010. Stayed at the Best Western Pepper Tree Inn, which is a five minute drive from downtown.

We tried to eat at El Bajio, but they seemed to be on vacation. Ended up eating dinner at La Super-Rica Taqueria. Los Agaves across the street looked good and got good reviews. Something to try next time.

Lunch at Cold Spring Tavern. Enjoyed the views of the Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara from Chumash Highway (154).

Got fresh uni from Santa Barbara Fish Market at the harbor.

Walked around the farmers market (Tuesdays from 3-6pm downtown).

Drove to Montecito. Stopped off at Lookout Point and watched pelicans dive in the water in front of Channel Island with a glorious sunset as the backdrop.

Dinner at Los Arroyos in Montecito.

Spent the early afternoon in Solvang. Sadly, the smorgasbord of our youth closed about 12 years ago. We opted for brunch at Paula's Pancake House. Picked up some cookies from Olsen's Danish Village Bakery. Had aebleskiver at Solvang Restaurant. Walked around the stores and farmers market.

Picked up abalone from Santa Barbara Fish Market.
