Driving
(This may apply to Mexico in general.)
- There are often no lanes, so you just have to roughly stay in the right place and go with the flow.
- "Stop" signs are a guideline, not a rule.
- People are pretty friendly overall.
- Lots of roundabouts. Google Maps is pretty useless on these, so don't overrely on it.
- Hard to turn around on highway, so look out for your exit. If you miss it, look for “Retorno” signs for turning around.
- Speed bumps here are no joke! Much higher on average than in the U.S.
- People don’t bother turning their wheels when parking on a hill.
Walking
- No real crosswalks. Again, lots of winging it
- “Sidewalks” are treacherous. Lots of inclines, holes. High driveways.
