Ed and I are going for our Midwest (July 2011) trip.

Boundary Water Canoe Areas has a listing of local outfitters and lodges.

How to Get There
The closest airport seems to be Duluth in Minnesota. It's expensive, as you might imagine. Minneapolis is about a three-hour drive away and is a cheaper airport.
