Cooking Sweet Rice
When you make sweet rice in a watery broth (like 삼계탕), it maintains the integrity of the grains. If you steam it in a rice cooker, it becomes one sticky glob. Because you typically soak sweet rice 8-10 hours before cooking, it doesn't need as much liquid to cook.
I made a delicious, easy steamed rice by putting the rice in a rice cooker with ginger, garlic, soy, honey, sake, and fish sauce. I then added a layer of cooked shitake mushrooms, and I cracked two eggs over the whole thing. When you cook it, the egg essentially boils, and it tastes good incorporated into the rice.
